WHAT TO BRING

PERSONAL ITEMS

Please have your child bring two to three personal items that mean a lot to her/him and to you.

DRESS CLOTHES

Also, have your child bring a change of clothes for their self-portrait. It would be great if she/he brings two sets of clothes. Possibly one somewhat traditional and another outfit that is a little more "creative".

All items will be returned on Thursday.

SPI CAMP IN DEPTH

EDUCATION

As much as we love our profession and enjoy sharing our experience and knowledge with your children, we also think it is very important to make these camps about more than just photography.

We have designed a photography camp that not only educates your child about the camera, portraiture, and some editing, we also include conversations about education, careers, and entrepreneurship. We want them to know that photography is so much more than the creative process and taking pictures. We also talk about college, running a business, sales, and managing a company. We want them to understand that being a successful photographer, accountant, manager, principal, etc. means going to college, studying, and learning about other aspects of a career or business.

SPI SCHEDULE

MONDAY

On the first day we cover some technical aspects about the camera. We follow up class time with real life practice! Then they will spend some time editing their pictures.

TUESDAY IS WATER BALLOON DAY

(It can be messy)

Please make sure your child is wearing clothes you do not mind getting dirty or stained. We will be photographing "water balloons" that will have a water colored liquid in them. This liquid may stain their clothes. This helps the learn about fast aperture settings and where to focus on an image or portrait.

WEDNESDAY

On Wednesday we cover Selective Focus and Rule of Third's. This involves class time, studio photography, and outside photography. This class helps them with composition and purposely placing the subject within a composition or frame.

THURSDAY IS SELF-PORTRAIT DAY

We spend some class time studying different styles of portraits, studio lighting for portrait, and natural lighting for portrait. Then we let the campers do their thing!

FRIDAY IS THE SHOW!

You are formally invited to

"The Show"

Friday at 11:00 a.m.

Your child will display the work they have done for the week including a self-portrait that they designed, photographed, composed, and printed! This is the true highlight of the camp.

Please plan on parking on Oak Street or Alamo Street.
